In the province of Gorizia there are four DOC denominations and you can do Wine Tasting Gorizia.
The Collio Goriziano or Collio DOC has existed since 1968 and the wines are produced with the Chardonnay, Malvasia Istriana, Müller-Thurgau vines. Picolit, Pinot Bianco, Pinot Grigio, Ribolla Gialla, Riesling Renano, Riesling Italico. Sauvignon, Tocai Friulano, Traminer Aromatico, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmènere, Merlot and Pinot Nero.
Of these there are the white and red variants in addition to the types produced with the individual vines vinified in purity. The Friuli Isonzo or Isonzo del Friuli DOC shared with the province of Udine, includes wines obtained from the vines Malvasia Istriana, Chardonnay, Moscato Giallo, Pinot Bianco, Pinot Grigio. Riesling Italico, Riesling Renano, Sauvignon. Tocai Friulano, Traminer Aromatico, Verduzzo Friulano, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot. Franconia, Moscato Rosa, Pignolo, Pinot Nero, Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso and Schioppettino. The types of wine of the denomination are white, red and rosé, all also in the sparkling type, the late harvest and those deriving from the individual vines vinified in purity.
The Carso DOC is shared with the province of Trieste
and its wines are obtained from the Terrano, Chardonnay, Glera, Malvasia istriana, Pinot grigio, Sauvignon, Traminer aromatico. Vitouska, Cabernet franc, Cabernet sauvignon, Merlot and Refosco dal peduncolo rosso vines.
The denomination includes the Terrano Classico sub-zone and its wines include the white and red types, in addition to those obtained from individual vines vinified in purity, in the case of Malvasia, Sauvignon, Vitouska, Merlot, Refosco and Terrano, as a reserve type. Finally, in the province of Gorizia there is also the Prosecco DOC, with sparkling and friuzzanti wines, but also a “tranquillo” typology, obtained from the Glera, Glera lunga.Verdiso, Bianchetta trevigiana, Perera, Chardonnay, Pinot bianco, Pinot grigio and Pinot nero vines, the latter used for the production of the Prosecco rosé typology.
The DOC is shared with the provinces of Udine, Pordenone and Trieste in addition to the Veneto provinces of Belluno, Padua, Venice, Vicenza, Treviso.
