In the province of Udine there are three of the four DOCG denominations and six DOC of the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region and in this area you can do wine tasting Udine. The Friuli Colli Orientali Picolit DOCG is dedicated to the wine produced with the Picolit grape variety.
Within it there is the Cialla sub-zone, with the relative typology of wines and also the reserve typology. The Picolit has the characteristic of reducing by floral abortion the quantity of grapes present in the bunch that reach the subsequent maturation. Ramandolo DOCG concerns the wine produced with the Verduzzo Friulano grape variety. The Rosazzo DOCG gives a wine produced with the Tocai friulano, Sauvignon, Pinot bianco, Chardonnay and Ribolla gialla grape varieties.

The six DOC denominations of the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region – Wine tasting Udine
Friuli Annia DOC has wines produced with the Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso, Tocai Friulano, Pinot Bianco, Pinot Grigio, Verduzzo Friulano, Traminer Aromatico, Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Malvasia Istriana vines.
The types of wines of the denomination are white, red and rosé, the latter also in the frizzante and spumante types. Friuli Aquileia DOC produces its wines with the following grape varieties: Merlot, Cabernet Franc. Cabernet Sauvignon, Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso, Refosco Nostrano, Tocai Friulano, Pinot Bianco, Pinot Grigio. Riesling Renano, Sauvignon, Verduzzo Friulano, Traminer Aromatico, Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Malvasia Istriana and Mueller-Thurgau. The types of wines of the denomination are white, red and rosé, the latter also in the types of sparkling and spumante.

The third “plain” denomination of Friuli, also in the province of Udine, is the Friuli Latisana DOC, whose wines are produced with the Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmenère, Franconia, Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso. Pinot Nero, Pinot Bianco, Pinot Grigio, Tocai Friulano, Verduzzo Friulano, Traminer Aromatico. Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Malvasia Istriana, Riesling Italico and Riesling Renano vines.
Depending on the vine, the wines are vinified in white, in some cases also in the frizzante and sparkling versions, in red, also in the superiore and riserva typologies, and for the frizzante, spumante and rosé Pinot Nero, also in the frizzante and passito typologies.
The denomination Friuli Colli Orientali DOC
includes wines produced with the Chardonnay, Malvasia Istriana, Pinot Bianco, Pinot Grigio, Ribolla Gialla, Riesling Renano, Sauvignon. Tocai Friulano, Traminer Aromatico, Verduzzo Friulano, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon. Carmènere, Merlot, Pignolo, Pinot Nero, Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso, Refosco Nostrano, Schioppettino and Tazzelenghe vines. The denomination includes five sub-zones: Cialla, Pignolo di Rosazzo, Ribolla Gialla di Rosazzo, Schioppettino di Prepotto and Refosco di Faedis. The wines are available in the white, red and sweet typologies, in addition to those specific to the vine vinified in purity.
Friuli Grave DOC is the largest denomination in the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region, as well as in the province of Udine, and its wines are obtained from the Chardonnay, Pinot Bianco, Pinot Grigio, Riesling Renano. Sauvignon, Traminer aromatico, Verduzzo friulano, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon. Carmènere, Merlot, Pinot Nero and Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso grape varieties.
A types of wine of the denomination include white and red, also superiore, novello, chardonnay, also superiore, spumante and frizzante, rosé, also frizzante, pinot bianco, also frizzante, superiore and spumante, pinot grigio, riesling, sauvignon, traminer aromatico, all four also superiore, verduzzo friulano, also frizzante and superiore, cabernet, cabernet franc, cabernet sauvignon, merlot, refosco dal peduncolo rosso and pinot nero, all also in superiore typology and the last also spumante.
The denomination is shared with the province of Pordenone. The last of the denominations of the province of Udine is the Prosecco DOC, whose wines, in the typologies “tranquillo” (still), frizzante and spumante, are produced with the Glera, Glera lunga, Verdiso, Bianchetta trevigiana. Perera, Chardonnay, Pinot bianco, Pinot grigio and Pinot nero vines. The DOC is shared with the provinces of Gorizia, Pordenone and Trieste in the region, as well as Belluno, Padova, Venezia, Vicenza, Treviso in the Veneto.
