Barbera del Monferrato superiore DOCG
is reserved for wines from an area located between the provinces of Asti and Alessandria, in a production area that largely overlaps with that of Barbera d’Asti, but which includes areas in the center of the so-called Piedmont tertiary basin that are not included in the Barbera d’Asti regulations.
The Barbera del Monferrato superiore DOCG wine must be produced from Barbera grapes for at least 85%, with Freisa. Grignolino and Dolcetto grapes, alone or together for a maximum of 15%. Barbera del Monferrato superiore DOCG wines must be subjected to a minimum aging period of 14 months, of which at least 6 in wooden barrels.
The denomination Ruchè di Castagnole Monferrato DOCG
is dedicated to the grape variety of the same name, which gives a wine with fruity aromas and perceptible spicy accents, soft and of discrete freshness, adequate tannicity and good structure, suitable for regional cuisine dishes based on red meats.
Grignolino d’Asti DOC
from the Grignolino grape variety, offers wines with a not very intense ruby red hue and a discrete consistency. Their bouquet features delicate aromas of red fruits, cut grass and geranium, sometimes accompanied by lively hints of vinosity.
Freisa d’Asti DOC
is produced with the Freisa grape variety, even in the superior type. The wine has a ruby red color, delicious aromas of rose and raspberry, a certain liveliness of taste, a discrete structure and a slightly relevant tannic component.
