Barbaresco Wineries

Barbaresco DOCG wines must be obtained from 100% Nebbiolo grapes, coming from the area that includes the municipalities of Barbaresco, Neive and Treiso, here you can do Wine Tasting to Barbaresco Wineries.

The origin of the grapes conditions the characteristics of the wine and in fact the wines coming from the hills of Barbaresco and Neive. Are characterized on the one hand by structure, tannic fullness and power. On the other by softness, fruity richness and finesse. Those coming from the hills of Treiso have characteristics more linked to finesse and elegance than to structure.

In fact, Nebbiolo is one of the vines most sensitive to the cultivation area, for this reason almost all the typical areas of cultivation of Nebbiolo have been done a work of “zoning” that for Barbaresco has given rise to 75 “additional mentions” for as many parcels of territory into which the denomination has been divided. The vinification involves a refinement period of at least 26 months, of which 9 in wood, and of at least 50 months, of which at least 9 in wood for the “riserva” version.

Barbaresco, together with Barolo, represents the highest expression of Nebbiolo wines. The climate of the hills in the Barbaresco growing area is very similar to that of Barolo, with risks of frost in spring, rain and fog in autumn. This leads to a strong differentiation between Barbaresco wines from different vintages. Compared to Barolo, Barbaresco wines are generally less full-bodied, but always refined and elegant. Even among the three municipalities of reference for Barbaresco.
