Wine tasting Gavi

The municipality of Gavi is located at an altitude of 233 m above sea level and is known for the production of Gavi or Cortese di Gavi Riserva DOCG wines, a wine that requires at least one year of aging, of which six months of refinement in the bottle, in this area you can do wine tasting Gavi.

The typology of Gavi or Cortese di Gavi Riserva Spumante metodo classico DOCG wines requires at least two years of aging, of which at least eighteen months of permanence on the lees in the bottle. Geographical area of Gavi or Cortese di Gavi DOCG is predominantly hilly, in the southern part of the province of Alessandria, in the extreme south-eastern corner of Piedmont, where the great plain and the mountain meet, the alluvial soils and the outcrops of ancient times.

These are lands that are not suited to the intensive use of other agricultural crops (also in relation to their location); but precisely because of these characteristics they are suitable for quality viticulture, with low production yields, giving the wines particular vigour and complexity. Furthermore, the valley floor lands that are not suitable for quality viticulture are excluded from this area. The Gavi area therefore expresses the conditions that increase the charm, but also the richness of taste and aromas of the wines.
