Wine tasting Barolo

Barolo is the king of Italian red wines, aged for years in wooden barrels is recognized as one of the greatest red wines in the world, a symbol of Piedmont’s winemaking excellence, produced in the hills of the Langhe, where you can do Wine Tasting Barolo.

Produced exclusively from Nebbiolo grapes, this wine is the fruit of a unique territory, located in the hills of the Langhe, in an area delimited by eleven municipalities, including Barolo, La Morra, Serralunga d’Alba and Monforte d’Alba. The combination of calcareous and clayey soils, combined with the continental climate, offers the ideal conditions to enhance Nebbiolo, a demanding vine but capable of producing wines of extraordinary complexity and longevity.

Barolo Recognized with the Controlled and Guaranteed Designation of Origin (DOCG)

stands out for its rigorous winemaking and refinement process. The specification requires a minimum aging of 38 months, of which at least 18 in wood, which increases to 62 months for the Riserva version. This long period allows the wine to develop aromatic depth, structure and an aging capacity that can last for decades.

Barolo should not be drunk young, it is a wine that can improve in the cellar for up to ten years after the harvest. A vintage that is immediately pleasant will probably not have the characteristics to aspire to these long aging periods. The great tannin content of Nebbiolo requires long periods of maturation for its wines. There are two schools of thought among the most famous Barolo producers, those tied to the tradition of large barrels and long maceration times and who propose a robust and tannic Barolo on the one hand and the “modernists” who prefer aging in barriques and shorter macerations, which lead to obtaining a softer and gentler Barolo.

In any case, we expect Barolo to have a characteristic colour of a mature wine with the soft nuances of a Nebbiolo wine, broad and complex olfactory notes, fruity, floral and with ethereal or balsamic nuances, a structure that confirms the visual and olfactory sensations, and a long and constant persistence.
