The province of Asti has its prominent geographical element in the Tanaro river that divides the territory into two sectors of very distinct physiognomy, here you can do Asti wine tasting in the best Wineries.
Monferrato Casalese has as its most famous denomination the Barbera Asti Superiore DOCG, which includes the sub-zones Tinella, Colli Astigiani and Nizza. The Monferrato Astigiano, and the Alto Monferrato, the latter area shared with the province of Alessandria.
In this area the denomination Asti DOCG stands out with the famous sparkling wine,
and its typology Moscato d’Asti DOCG, dedicated to the sparkling wine. Asti spumante is the most famous Italian sweet sparkling wine. Moscato d’Asti, in its characteristic bottle with the flat cork stopper, is sweeter, softer and fruitier than Spumante d’Asti.
The denomination Ruchè di Castagnole Monferrato DOCG
is dedicated to the grape variety of the same name, which gives a wine with fruity aromas and perceptible spicy accents. Less known is the wine of the Albugnano DOC, based on Nebbiolo, with permitted additions of Freisa and/or Barbera. The Loazzolo DOC focuses on the Moscato Bianco grape variety, which gives a sweet wine obtained from late-harvest grapes or subjected to drying in the fruit cellars, possibly also with the intervention of noble rot (Botrytis cinerea), which give the wine an elegant golden yellow color and a beautiful brightness.
Malvasia di Castelnuovo Don Bosco DOC is based on the Malvasia di Schierano grape variety while Malvasia di Casorzo DOC is based on the Malvasia di Casorzo grape variety. Grignolino d’Asti DOC, from the Grignolino grape variety, offers wines with a not very intense ruby red hue and a discrete consistency. Finally, Freisa d’Asti DOC is produced with the Freisa grape variety, even in the superior typology.
